Krita MCP Bridge

Krita MCP Bridge lets your AI assistant paint with you inside Krita.

Connect Claude Desktop, Claude Code, Cursor, or any MCP client to Krita, and your assistant can create documents, add and arrange layers, draw shapes, lines, and text, paint gradients, run any of Krita's 50 filters, and export finished art.

The part that makes it feel alive: your assistant can take a snapshot of the canvas and actually see what it painted. So it looks at its own work, notices the sun is too small or the sky is the wrong blue, and fixes it. An assistant that can see paints far better than one working blind.

Everything runs on your own machine. The Krita side listens only on localhost, so nothing about your art ever leaves your computer.

Set up in about five minutes. You import one file through Krita's own plugin importer (Tools > Scripts > Import Python Plugin from File), then paste a short config snippet into your assistant. Step-by-step guides for Claude Desktop, Claude Code, and Cursor are included, with the exact paths for Windows, macOS, and Linux.

What your assistant can do (25 tools):

- Create, open, save, and export documents (PNG, JPG, WebP, BMP, and Krita's .kra)

- Read the full layer tree; add, remove, select, rename, hide, and restyle layers

- Set opacity and blending modes (multiply, screen, overlay, and more)

- Draw rectangles, ellipses, lines, polylines, and text

- Paint linear gradients in any direction

- List and apply all of Krita's filters, with control over their settings

- Resize, crop, and flatten

- Take a canvas snapshot the assistant can see, for self-correction
